The Barber of Calabasas (1976): This student film was shot quickly on Super 8 using a camera borrowed from the university with no retakes, which explains pretty much everything (some shots are barely visible). It stars the twins Steven M. and Douglas Brian Martin, both of whom were on their way to becoming real directors and actors (Steven was in one of my other classes at the time). They had different length hair, so I built a bit around that fact, with the character called Doug being played by Steve at first. The whole thing is based on the mirror scene in "Duck Soup" (the book used as a prop is "The Marx Brothers Scrapbook"). (9:27)
